This intro-level class explores the Center of our creativity. Through
theatre exercises we will bring out honest emotions which provide
the essence for honest acting. This process allows the actor to
explore their truth in living, which is transformed into truth in
acting. Students will learn fundamental acting skills such as: stage
movement, improvisational exercises, interactive theatre exercises,
work on monologues and scene work. This work encourages personal
exploration and building self-confidence.

The class will focus on preparing for an audition. During the class,
we will work on appropriate protocol and preparedness necessary
to be truly ready for an audition. We will practice cold readings
from scripts and develop and rehearse a monologue. We will discuss
where to hear about auditions, how to find scripts, how to do cold
readings from scripts, introductions, closers, headshots and resumes.
By conclusion of the class participants will have a prepared audition.

Structured as a rehearsal process for performance, we will prepare
and perform One-Act productions through this workshop. Three to
four plays will make up the evenings entertainment as family and
friends attend a professional production of student work during
the final class session. Each play will be approximately 30-40 minutes
in length. The workshop participants will be cast in plays and will
be directed by Rick Bernstein over a eight week period. Lights,
sound, costumes, props, setting, and furniture will accompany the
productions. This is an intensive production class for experienced
and committed students. A compelling evening of theatre will be
had by all.
