While the play takes giggling pot shots stripping personalities down to the core, revealing even the seeds, this fun-tossed parody takes a couple of extra steps written for two women to perform, and Miners Alley chose the perfect twosome. For honest giggles down to the toes, Matt & Ben should definitely, absolutely be on the Must See list. While you’re at it, wish Miners Alley a Happy Fifth Birthday in Golden with many, many, many more to come. Holly Bartges--Colorado BackStage
The current production at Miner's Alley Playhouse, now celebrating five years in downtown Golden, alternates between lunatic hilarity, touching drama, buddy bickering and surreal yet cynical show business satire. Director Keith Dixon, and actresses Missy Moore and Laura Norman deserve high praise for outstanding work with an uneven script that has many more hits than misses. The performances of the two women are uncanny. Far more than impersonating well-known personalities, they inhabit them, yet bring something universally human to the performances as well. Patrick Dorn--The Troupe
This Miners Alley production is interesting to watch...It offers an almost perfect object lesson in two disparate styles of acting. You can tell that Laura Norman, who plays Ben, has imagined her way into the role. She's given thought to the nature of maleness, or at least a certain kind of overgrown teenage maleness, studying the way these guys move, grimace and play, taking what she's figured out into her own voice and body. Her Ben is neither a man nor a woman playing a man, but someone believable, likable and sort of androgynous. Juliet Wittman--Westword
MATT & BEN depicts its Hollywood golden boys – before J-Lo, before Gwyneth, before “Project Greenlight,” before Oscar…before anyone actually gave a damn. When the screenplay for Good Will Hunting drops mysteriously from the heavens, the boys realize they’re being tested by a Higher Power. This irreverent look at Hollywood's elite will leave you gasping for air as you laugh the night away! Don't miss this outrageous comedy...Opening June 13 "ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL AND "DELICIOUSLY SPITEFUL!Sharp and clever, Matt & Ben succeeds!" —THE NEW YORK TIMES
