Opening March 31st:
spring Acting Classes 2018!
Miners Alley is offering our fourth year of Beginning Acting Classes in 2018.
Each class will have a final performance to showcase what they’ve learned.
Since the classes are designed to teach the basic skills needed to perform,
we want to give the kids a chance to show off what they’ve learned!
These lessons will build confidence, teamwork and listening skills,
and form a firm foundation for working on the stage.

Class Description: Callback Workshop
You auditioned for a theatre production, now what? Are you ready for when you get a callback? In theatre, after auditions there are callbacks, this is when casting is decided. In this six week workshop you will learn the basics of callbacks. We will start with a mock audition and then work our way through the callback process. You will leave this class knowing how a callback works, the difference between a musical theatre and a straight theatre callback, and how to prepare for a callback (including scene work, character work, and dramaturgy). In this class you will gain experience with mock callbacks for different pieces each week. You will also be working on a separate scene with a partner throughout the course to develop scene work skills. We will have a performance at the end of the course with these scenes. You will walk away ready to nail that callback and get that part.
Enrollment Fee: $150

Class Description: Scene Study Class
You got the part...now what?! This spring at Miners Alley Playhouse, instructor Alaina Beth Reel is offering a Scene Study class. We will be investigating published scripts and focusing on bringing the stories to life! Each student will be paired with one or two other students to develop their chosen scene. There will be a showcase performance on our final day for friends and family. This class is aimed at 10-14-year-olds. Come dig into the WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHY of each selection, and let the stories (and your performances) sing! No previous experience needed, though this is an intermediate class for young actors who would like to sink their teeth into a deeper investigation of story and character, and hone their skills onstage. Sure to be fun-filled, energetic, and a true taste of what professional actors work on during rehearsals! Hope to see you for our Thursday class this spring.
Taught by professional actor/teacher Alaina Beth Reel.
Suggested age range 10-14.
